Our history

French excellence in decorative hardware since 1852

A region linked to ironworking for centuries

Maison Bronzes de France is the result of successive developments at the historic Dubois workshop, founded in 1852 in Tinchebray-Bocage, in the Orne department. Craftsmanship is at the heart of the Tinchebray region. Since the 16th century, blacksmiths, locksmiths, wick makers, ironworkers, and nail makers have been developing their activities, benefiting from the proximity of ore deposits, large forests, and rivers. At the beginning of the 20th century, more than 2,000 workers were employed in ironworking in family businesses. Today, Tinchebray remains the hardware capital of France.

From traditional hardware to high-end artistic hardware

Originally, the company manufactured various hardware items: wrought iron pieces, locks, hinges, furniture hardware, and handles of all kinds. In the 1980s, Dubois expanded its range with the “La Quincaillerie Centrale” and ‘Gigou’ collections, which became “Les Bronzes de France” and then simply “Bronzes de France.” This development marked Bronzes de France’s entry into the world of high-end artistic hardware. The company supplies residences and villas, as well as prestigious projects such as the Crillon, the George V, the Meurice, and the Ritz.

Over the years, Bronzes de France has developed more than 20,000 models covering all periods: Renaissance, Louis XIV, Louis XV, Louis XVI, Empire, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and more.

Today, Bronzes de France is continually expanding its range with new contemporary collections and bespoke creations.

Since 2018, Bronzes de France has been part of the Ateliers de France group, synonymous with French dynamism and excellence. Our shared purpose: a love of work well done.
